The word “tangerine” has recently been getting thrown around more frequently while describing several very different traits. While some people have considered our tricolors to be “tangerine” based off of their bright orange secondary pattern, we define our tangerine project as animals whose white pattern is replaced by a peachy, tangerine color.

The start of this project was our female VooDoo. Finding a similar male proved difficult, however, VooDoo consistently produced tangerine animals paired to animals without the tangerine color. This project has been a back burner project for several years, but we have had several animals from non-tangerine focused projects hatch animals that we are working into the project.

Our goal for this project is to recreate medium to high coverage dark based pinstripes; The white on these animals is a tangerine color, preferably light pink / light orange over yellow or cream. Animals will hatch with a bright orange pigment and fade to a light pinky orange by maturity.

We are excited to play with this trait and see what we can accomplish!

The animal(s) below were the founding breeders of the tangerine project. We highlight them below to give credit to the breeders that helped start our projects!
