Our cappuccino project had humble beginnings, as did many other stateside breeders. The scramble to find possible cappucinnos at pet stores and on Craigslist consumed many hours of us early cappuccino seekers!

Our cappuccino was found in the middle of the night on California Craigslist. A very hopeful email was sent out replying to the ad, with a request to send shipping supplies and packing instructions to the gecko’s current owners. After a long, middle of the night phone call with the owner of “Teddy”, shipping supplies were sent on their way along with videos of how to pack the box and use a refrigerated phase pack.
When shipping day came, the owner informed us that he got Teddy to the hub “just in time” and he was taken back onto the truck right away. They also said since temps were in the 70’s there, they didn’t include the “cold packs” since he might get too cold.
Panicked, as the midway hub had a low of mid-80’s, we begged them to go back with the phase packs - but Teddy was already on his way.
All night Maddie stayed up worried about whether or not he would make it alive, calling him “Schrödinger’s Gecko - both dead and alive until his box was opened. Thankfully, he made it safely, and went on to be a fundamental part of our breeding program.

Over the next two years, he would out produce himself tenfold - creating beautiful capps and frapps with Vega, Elyra, and FraidyCat. His offspring was undeniably cappuccino, which was not something that could be said about many of the early cappuccinos that were being produced.

We owe our cappuccino beginnings to one gecko - Schrödinger’s Gecko. He will always have a fond place in our hearts for his contribution to our projects.

The animal below was the sole start of our cappuccino project. Though his previous owners lost his lineage, he was produced by a breeder in California and purchased at an expo in 2018 by his family.
